Flood Watch Issued for Parts of Central PA

National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch for Thursday, August 29 Evening

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for parts of central Pennsylvania, including the following counties:

  • Centre
  • Clinton
  • Columbia
  • Lycoming
  • Montour
  • Northumberland
  • Snyder
  • Union

Heavy Rain Expected to Cause Flooding

The NWS predicts that heavy rain will move into the area on Thursday evening and continue through Friday morning. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible, with some areas receiving up to 6 inches.

This heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, along streams and rivers, and in areas with poor drainage.

Residents Urged to Take Precautions

The NWS urges residents in the affected areas to take the following precautions:

  1. Avoid driving through flooded areas.
  2. Be aware of the potential for flash flooding.
  3. Move valuables to higher ground.
  4. Listen to local weather forecasts and be prepared to take action if necessary.
