Flood Watch Issued for Parts of Central PA
National Weather Service Issues Flood Watch for Thursday, August 29 Evening
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Watch for parts of central Pennsylvania, including the following counties:
- Centre
- Clinton
- Columbia
- Lycoming
- Montour
- Northumberland
- Snyder
- Union
Heavy Rain Expected to Cause Flooding
The NWS predicts that heavy rain will move into the area on Thursday evening and continue through Friday morning. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible, with some areas receiving up to 6 inches.
This heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, along streams and rivers, and in areas with poor drainage.
Residents Urged to Take Precautions
The NWS urges residents in the affected areas to take the following precautions:
- Avoid driving through flooded areas.
- Be aware of the potential for flash flooding.
- Move valuables to higher ground.
- Listen to local weather forecasts and be prepared to take action if necessary.
